Who is the concierge?
In medieval France, all the owners of the castles had an assistant to Comte des Cierges (“Comt de Sierzh”), translated “Candle holder”. He illuminated the path to the owner of the castle, always a step ahead, sought to predict the wishes of the owner, and the keys to all doors of the castle hung on his belt. For the first time, the concierge profession is mentioned already in the XII century, but they remembered it in the beginning of the twentieth, when the first grand hotels began to open in Europe.
